Fifty-five is not a compromise. It's the number this magazine works at.

Building a tall rimfire stick is easy. Building one that lifts the 51st round as cleanly as the 3rd is not. The spring has to hold real pressure at full compression without binding the stack, and it still has to push when there are six rounds left. That window is narrow, and it closes fast the taller you go. We tuned the DOUBLE NICKEL to the top of that window and stopped there. We could have chased a bigger number for the box. It wouldn't have run.

Here's the part most listings leave out. This is a .22 semi-auto, and .22 semi-autos are picky  your TX22 already is. Feed it high-velocity copper-plated round nose ammunition, give it about [200] rounds to break in, and it settles into a magazine you can count on. That's rimfire, not a defect. We'd rather you hear it from us than find out at the range.

Do that and you've got fifty-five rounds of uninterrupted trigger time on an unmodified TX22 which was always the point of this pistol, minus the part where you stop to reload.
